Is it a saying of Muhammad that prophets should be buried where they die ?

It is, I don’t know what you are referring to, but I know positively that the prophets previously have not been met where they died. And the bones of the prophets have been removed from one place to another like Yusuf A.S.

So that tradition must have been either misunderstood or misquoted. There couldn’t have been a particular instruction about himself that I should not be removed from the place of my death and I should be buried here. And that is also understandable in a sense. Andalas S.A. was very fond of Aisha S.K. and he had a very deep personal, emotional as well as regard for the quality of her character.

So, during this last illness, it was custom to ask which house is that. He went turn after turn to every wife’s house and he was afraid that death was coming closer so he did not want to die anywhere except at the house of his wife Aisha S.K. So this is why he kept on asking. When her house came, I mean that he came to her house, then he said enough and he never moved from there. So when he instructed that he should be buried where he dies, he meant that house.

So either this hadith has been misquoted or misinterpreted. All I can understand from this is that Amla S.A. was ecstatic about himself that he should be buried there.
