If a child has a bad dream and wants to relate it, then is it permissible to listen to it ?

Questioner: Secondly, children often have scary dreams and they want to wake up in the morning and tell their parents.

Huzur (rh): Do you tell them scary stories? (in Jest)

Questioner: No, not much.

Huzur (rh): I think so… (In jest)

Questioner: They read books themselves.

Huzur (rh): That’s the thing. Mothers that tell their children scary stories or read them scary stories, will have scary dreams, right? (In jest)

Questioner: So Huzur, should we listen to them tell their scary dreams or should we tell them not to tell us?

Huzur (rh): If you listen to them, you will also have scary dreams. (In Jest) Take it lightly. Tell them it’s all just a nightmare. And improve their eating habits. If there are foods that create gas, then stop eating them. They also  lead to more nightmares.

Questioner: So, there is no harm in listening?

Huzur (rh): There is no harm in listening.
