Well, in discussion with my Sikh friends, I’ve always wanted to tell them about our beliefs on Guru Baba Nanak Sahib, but I have not so much knowledge on this matter, and I was wondering if you could please shed some light on this. You should read the book Satbachan, written by Hazrat Musleh Maud, and understand that it has been translated into English, so if you can have access to that book, that would enlighten you so much on Sikhism and its relationship to Islam, and all about it.
And again, I have brought a few tapes prepared on this subject by one of the foremost scholars on Sikhism, that is Jnani Badulla Sahib. His knowledge of Sikhism is so wide and so deep that he is held in very high esteem by the great Jnanis and the great scholars of Sikh religion. So his name is well-known and well-established. Nowadays he is in Canada, no, America, yes, America.
I wrote to him and he prepared a few tapes, even before his departure from America he had prepared a few tapes in Rabwah, now we have got those tapes with us, in Gurmukhi. So the ideal thing for you would be to have a few tapes and make your Sikh friends listen to them. They will understand that language much better. And if you also try to understand, this Gurmukhi is very close to Punjabi, so I think because you know Punjabi, don’t you?
So Inshallah you will also be able to learn something from that. But the problem with those tapes is that he is a bit old now and I think his denture is not well put, so he can’t pronounce the words very clearly, you have to apply your mind all the time, with concentration you will learn what he is saying. So I hope it will not be too much of a trial for your Sikh friends, but anyway it is a very useful information you will get in those tapes.
