In the Quran (61:11), God addresses the believers and says to them to believe in Him. If He was already addressing the believers why does He again tell them to believe in Him in the next verse ?

Those believers who were addressed, were they not doing the rest of the things already? Yes, they were. So, the objection should be about every item that follows. Not about Tomanuna alone. No, the whole of the verse actually. So, the question changes the complexion altogether. It does. And it doesn’t say, do this. Tomanuna is mudharya. That means you are doing it.

This is a statement of fact. Not an order. But this is in special circumstances. Is it referring to some other? No, no, no. What it means is that Allah says that should I not make you aware of a situation that you have struck the best bargain. You have stricken the best bargain. And that bargain is this, that you believe in Allah and you part with your money and part with your life, sacrifice your money and life for the sake of Allah. This is the best bargain you have made already.
