Unitarians are, at one time they have been changing in their doctrines and from place to place to, their doctrine has been a bit different. At the time of our Huzoor sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, Unitarians found in Arabia were truly monotheists. They believed in one God alone.
But nowadays the Unitarians which we find today, have a different concept of oneness altogether. They believe still in Trinity, yet they say they are monotheists and they are Unitarians. So it’s a very complex doctrine which they have adopted and if you come to discuss this matter with them, it will be very confusing for you to understand what they want to say. In claim they are believers in one God, but in reality they believe in three Gods.
Once I came across such a Unitarian and what I understood after a discussion with him was that he said God is one, it is not three, but it has three parts, you see. Like machines have three parts, so a car has many parts, so it is a one God, we are not believers in two or three Gods, but it has three parts, so we are Unitarians. So the concept of Unitarian has changed.
Even in those days the Unitarians of the Roman Empire were not exactly of the same views as the Unitarians found in the Arabian countries. They were differently influenced by different cultures and peoples and had shifted in their stances.
