We see in between the time when someone dies and the day of resurrection, where does their soul go? Are you from Scotland? Yes. That’s why I couldn’t properly understand you. That soul is kept in a sort of no man’s land. It’s neither here nor there, but it goes through a process of development, which is a very long period. It passes through the process of development until it is redelivered in the form of a different spiritual being.
We don’t know much about what happens during this period, but the Holy Qur’an speaks of this interim period. And the Holy Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, has also spoken of this in so many ways. He tells us that despite the fact that the day of resurrection would still be far off, even immediately after death, the soul will begin to suffer a little bit, confusedly, if it is hell bound. And if it is heaven bound, then it will also begin to feel the pleasure that it is a good soul and it is in nearness of Allah and so on and so forth.
But we don’t know very little about these things. It’s a phenomenon which perhaps is not understandable completely by man. Because we can’t understand the very soul which occupies us here now. When you consider yourself as a speaking person, who you are, where you reside, the whole body, but how, where, it’s all the matter.
And still, you have so many different parts of your feeling and yet you are insplittable one single person. It’s very complicated affair, isn’t it? So you can’t understand your own self here on earth. How can you understand after the soul is delivered to a form which we have never heard of, right?
