We have been told that after death we are put in a cold store which is called Alam-e-Barzakh. Cold storage? I should call it, that’s what I wanted to know. I think that is something different than cold storage. All right, sir. Sorry for using this word. In cold storage all activity ceases. All activity ceases. That is the principle of cold storage. That it is closer to ceasing. If it does not cease altogether, it is nearer to ceasing and the activity is suppressed.
But there it would be a different thing altogether. The Holy Quran says that your resurrection would be like your development in the bellies of your mother. Whatever is happening in the uterus is not a cold storage like thing. It is a completely different thing. But what I mean, sir, was that between the death and the day of judgment, when we go in front of God, there is some time of lapse. So the person asked me that while God is all-knowing and He knows who is going to hell, who is going to heaven, why this time is lapse and why we are not progressing towards both ends.
So I did not know what to say at that point. The fact is that you are progressing towards your ultimate ends right from the start. The people who are to go to hell, they know where they belong to. Because the Prophet, peace be upon him, has spoken on this subject and has told us that during Alam-e-Barlakh, the hellish would begin to receive wafts from the hell. And those who are heavenly people, who are destined to go to heaven, windows would be opened from the heaven in their direction and they would begin to receive.
And this phenomena is going to grow as they progress. Now the fact is that whatever they have achieved here in the world, or in whatever fashion they have acted here in the world, that has already gone into their future making. And somehow that thing has been preserved by the soul and an embryo is formed. That embryo would begin to develop and if it is a healthy embryo, with the passage of time it would feel better and better and it would enjoy that situation. And if it is an unhealthy, diseased embryo, then more it grows towards consciousness, that embryo would become more and more restive and ill at ease.
But at this point, those are going to hell and those embryos, as you said, feel about the window open to them to hell. We are told that they are going to progress as well, they are going to be cured in a hospital. So the treatment starts there or they are towards more? No, no. After they have fully matured, then they begin to suffer and also they are treated at the same time. That suffering is a treatment in itself because that would create something within their souls which would be ready for a new, you know, new life.
Because this is an unending process as far as we know. This soul, this body and life relationship has created a soul. Now that soul would provide the body for the soul which is already emerging within the soul. Whatever we do affects our soul. Our final Ana, that is me, I, that is becoming either nobler by the passage of time and by our actions or becoming wiser and more evil. And it’s up to us to make it either of the two. So that soul, which we call soul in relation to the body, would provide the body for the next soul which would emerge fully and develop fully after death. But the seed and embryo has already been provided by us for that soul.
Now when an ill person realizes, gaining full senses that he is ill and he is suffering, his hell begins from that time onwards. Not before that. The child within the mother’s womb is also suffering sometimes but the consciousness level is so low that we don’t know even if it’s suffering or not. But the behavior and the noises it’s making and the movements it’s making, they indicate perhaps some sort of suffering is being experienced by the embryo. But when it becomes a child then everybody, it’s an open secret, everybody knows.
And with the passage of time the suffering becomes more and more acute because the consciousness becomes acute. So the same thing according to the Holy Quran would happen to us after death. There is no problem at all which you can’t understand if you understand this analogy which the Holy Quran has pointed out. Thank you very much.
