Questioner: Huzoor (rh), in heaven, when the souls will meet together, will relatives recognize each other? Please.
Huzoor (rh): Yes. Yes. I said yes. A small question requires a small answer. Yes, they will. Not only friends but even enemies. The inmates of Hell would be surprised that those whom we consider to be wrong are not to be found here. Where are they; and the inmates of hell will be shown to some of those who would be the inmates of heaven before they enter heaven. They would be given knowledge and they will be given, you know, an opportunity to peep into what was happening to the hellish people and then they’ll be so grateful to Allah that he saved them from being one of those and so on.
So it’s very categorically mentioned and the Hadith speaks on this so much, even to the extent that the Holy Prophet (saw) of Islam has declared that Allah is so kind and benign and merciful that if out of the two husbands and wife, I mean, out of the husband and wife, husband belongs to a higher status and the wife belongs to a lower status and she has earned a lower status of heaven. For the sake of husband, Allah would raise the status of the woman and bring them together and also according to him the vice versa is true. If the wife is very holy and pious and the husband is so-so, so he earns a much lower ladder of heaven, then Allah will overlook that and that shortcoming on his part and raise his status to the status of his wife. So not, I mean, why will that be done? So that they do not recognize each other?
Questioner: What I want to know is, will my father recognize me where I am?
Huzoor (rh): Well, that is very difficult. Tell us, did he always recognize you here while he was alive?
