Why has the text of the Quran been divided into seven “manazil” (parts)?

Huzoor (rh): Another sister writes that the text of the Holy Qur’an has been divided into seven manazil. What does it mean? I read no mention of any manazil in Ahadith. This has been done by some Muslim scholars in the past to make things easier for those who recite the Holy Qur’an and who want to recite a bigger portion. So like the Qur’an was divided into rukus, which was not done at the time of revelation, so also other parts were added like sipara. The Holy Qur’an was not revealed in siparas at all. That was only to make things convenient for people who would like to recite the Qur’an. Some beginners may like to recite only a small portion, so a ruku would be enough for them. Those who want to recite more, they could finish a para for instance, or half a para. Those who would like to recite still more, could recite a manzil. This is the seventh part. So perhaps this was the intention, otherwise we don’t find any reference of such things in the time of Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.
