What is the importance of reciting the first and last rukuu of Quranic Chapter Al-Kahf in relation to the Dajaal (Anti-Christ) ?

The fact is, I have already told you that significance because our Prophet ﷺ pointed it out that during the latter days when Dajjal or Antichrist as we call him in English would appear he would be all-powerful, he will destroy all civilizations, he will cover the entire world with his evil influence. Only a few people would be saved from his evil eye or evil influence. So, to be among those, our Prophet ﷺ directed that if you want to be saved from the influence of Dajjal you should recite the first ten verses of Surah Kahf and the final ten verses of Surah Kahf before sleeping, after retiring, before going to sleep.

So, why? Because these ten verses in the beginning and the ten verses in the end indicate clearly who Dajjal is. Once you are aware from where the danger is coming when you are clearly told the direction from which danger befalls you then you can save yourself from the danger. If you don’t know and it can come from any direction then it’s very difficult to save you or defend you against that danger. So, by clearly defining Dajjal our Prophet ﷺ helped us to understand the nature of danger, the source of danger, the way the danger would attack you and put you in a much better position to fend for yourself.

This is why the first ten verses, when you read them more intently now, the first ten verses would be found discussing Christianity and the last ten verses are also found to be discussing Christianity but there is a marked difference between the Christianity discussed in the earlier verses and the Christianity discussed in the final verses. In the final verses the more depraved and decadent form of Christianity is discussed. In the early verses Christianity which is discussed has just made the first misstep in the wrong direction.

For instance, in the first ten verses it is mentioned that they have created a sort of son for Allah, I mean fabricated the concept of a son for Allah. Only one partner has been called here in the first verse. In the final ten verses it says Quite a few saints, Auliyaa being saints as the Christian saints are, hundreds and thousands of saints have been created in the latter days. So starting from creating one false god besides Allah, they ended up in a totally idolatrous religion. They started believing in hundreds and thousands of saints. That is their ending. While they started with belief in one god, they deviated from that and started fabricating a son and attributing the son to him. And then ended in idolatry.

Clearly mentioned. And in the second place, in the first verses, their poverty is discussed. In the beginning they will be found in a state of extreme poverty and deprivation. In the end their affluence is discussed. That is also a big change from the beginning because then the Holy Quran says they have become very haughty in their attitude. They think that they can do anything. They would have achieved great excellence in the art of manufacturing. And that would make them proud and haughty. They would say that we are past excellent in manufacturing things, in the art of manufacturing technology.

But Allah says that will not be able to save them from final and utter destruction which is in store for them. So, in the first places, initial errands of Christianity are mentioned and initial worldly position of Christians is mentioned as against their position in the final days, in the latter days. They are no longer believers in Trinity alone. They have become positive idolaters by creating many, many partners with Allah. And also they have become a very wealthy nation through the agency of their excellence, through the help of their excellence in industry and technology.

Yet they will be destroyed because this is mentioned it wrong. So, also the Kalima has a fine reflection on this subject as well. It started with one Kalima but actually landed up in a state where they have started believing in so many words of Allah. Because they attribute the same qualities to their saints which previously they attributed only to Jesus Christ, peace be upon him.
