Questioner: I want to know the significance of Laylatul Qadr and when and how we can observe it.
Huzoor (rh): It’s not up to you to do it. It’s not your decision. If Allah so desires, He will bless you with that. Otherwise, you can’t do it even if you are awake the whole night and that night is the night of Laylatul Qadr. You may not have that experience. So it’s entirely a blessing of Allah that one shares those blessed moments. So for that you should pray all Ramadan. Right? And there is no fixed date anyway. Because according to Hazarat Rasoolullah (PBUH) one should search for that night. Which means all the night is the night of preparation and preparedness. And among the last 10 nights, every night is a possible night of Laylatul Qadr. Particularly the odd nights, 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th. So that keeps the believers alert. You know, instead of having only one night, they go through the experience all through. And it is not a must that only your prayers during those moments will be heard. Prayers can be heard even without Ramadan. It’s entirely up to Allah. So don’t be too mechanical about these things. Try your best and leave the rest to God. Okay?
