Assalamo Alaikum Wa Rahamatullah Wa Barakatahu!
Surah Ha Mim As-Sajdah: 34
“And who is better in speech than he who invites men to Allah and does good works and says, ‘I am surely of those who submit?”
Thank you for contributing to Askislam.ca! We’re teaming up with some of the best minds in the Jama’at to educate our youth and encourage them to have the confidence to answer allegation against Islam.
By working together, we want to tackle every allegation levied against Islam and respond by presenting the beautiful teachings found in the Holy Qur’an, the sayings of The Holy Prophet (sa) and the writings of the Promised Messiah (as). Together we can discuss and share answers from trusted resources in a safe space.
To avoid misreporting or misrepresenting Islam Ahmadiyyat we have taken care to provide guidelines for the trust of those choosing to share those answers with others.
Therefore, when posting answers to questions we humbly request you to refer to our following guidelines.
- Answers should not use any Jama’at member’s name. The confidentiality of the sight and the respect of members must be upheld.
- Answers should conform to the request of the questioner. i.e., IS this to be posted on Twitter, Instagram or content in a YouTube video. Therefore, curtail your answer to the request specified. If no special request is made kindly maintain a 1000-word maximum response
- Personal experiences can be shared, again we humbly request no Jama’at members information should be shared.
- Quotes should be referenced using APA work citing. The APA work cite engine is provided to assist you. https://www.scribbr.com/apa-citation-generator/
We also discourage one-link answers. We are not building a link library, but rather we are curating answer snippets with links to references. Every link posted must follow a link pasting guideline that should meet the following:
- The link must have a 200-word maximum blurb presenting its title.
- The intended content from the link should also be pasted as text in a maximum of one paragraph.
- If the link is of a video or image, its description and timeline (for video) must be added.
- Links to PDF should be avoided if a direct link to an online version of the PDF is available. The direct link to a book should point to its page number and the highlighted section if possible. e.g. here.
While brainstorming what to write about, ask yourself these questions:
- Does my answer length meet the requested length for the specified platform?
- Will this response be relevant to the current modern audience?
- Will this post offer solutions to contemporary issues?
- Am I qualified to write about this topic without any references (i.e., Stating ones-own opinion)?
- What insight can I bring to this topic that nobody else has referenced?
Advice for responding to questions.
- Break up your content, so it’s easy to read. This means including headings, subheadings, bullets, and any other visual elements to increase the readability of your piece.
- Write in a natural, conversational tone. We want to share content that is authoritative, but not robotic. We’re producing blog content — not Wikipedia pages, so don’t shy away from showing off your sense of humor.
- Always name your sources. We understand that you’re an expert, but our audience might not be so sure. If you’re going to drop some stats/information/history/ theory (i.e.: “open rates jumped 55 percent overnight”), link back to the original source.
- Avoid sarcasm, swearing and insults. This should be understood as we are all brothers in faith and should not only have self-respect and maintain our own dignity, but we should also reciprocate that to our brothers.
- Before hitting “Answer” read over your post at least once. Make sure you’re not going off subject and look for any spelling or grammar mistakes.
When in doubt, get in touch with us at “Contact Us” on the main page and someone will assist you.
Jazakumullah Ahsanal Jazaa
